Montgomery Township has several volunteer opportunities for township residents. Below is the list of all boards and committees with their description and meeting time. Not all of the boards have current vacancies; please look for the notation next to the committee name for positions that are currently vacant.

Autumn Festival Committee: Vacancy
The Autumn Festival Committee plans, organizes and implements the Montgomery Township Community Day, which is held the second Saturday of October each year. Highlights include hay rides, pumpkin decorating, pony rides, petting zoo, amusements and more!

Business Development Partnership (BDP):
The Business Development Partnership is a committee comprised of Montgomery Township business managers and owners. Each month the members of the BDP meet to discuss and analyze important matters that may affect the business community. This advisory committee makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors and Township staff regarding community business activity and economic development.

Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC):
The EAC was formed to advise and educate the Board of Supervisors along with the community on matters that can affect the environment. These appointed members meet monthly to discuss issues that have environmental implications. The EAC has successfully worked with other agencies on projects and programs that have dealt with storm water, recycling, invasive plants and other environmental topics.

Finance Committee:
The Finance Committee is an advisory committee to the Board if Supervisors on matters regarding financial issues within the Township. The Committee meets regarding financial planning and analyzes issues that may affect the financial condition of the Township.

Montgomery Township Municipal Sewer Authority (MTMSA): Vacancy
Montgomery Township created the Municipal Sewer Authority in 1963 to manage the construction, acquisition, and operation of sewer facilities. The MTSMA Board oversees the Sewer Authority and its staff. The MTMSA operates Eureka Wastewater Treatment Plant and five pump stations, and maintains the entire sewer collection system in the Township.

Open Space Committee:
The Open Space Committee is a combination of township staff, elected officials, county representatives and community volunteers. The Committee is responsible for implementing the 2006 Open Space Plan along with continuing to explore future uses for existing preserved open space land.

Park and Recreation Board: Vacancy
The Park and Recreation Board is an advisory board to the Board of Supervisors on matters pertaining to the Township owned parklands and recreation programs. The Park and Recreation Board is responsible for providing adequate recreation facilities for Township residents and for recommending and implementing recreation programs.

Pension Fund Advisory Committee:
The Pension Fund Advisory Committee is an advisory committee to the Board of Supervisors on matters regarding uniformed and non-uniformed pension plan issues. The committee meets quarterly to review performance and administration of the plans.

Planning Commission:
The Planning Commission is an advisory body to the Board of Supervisors in matters of planning, zoning, and subdivision control. All applications for subdivisions and major land development in Montgomery Township must be reviewed by the Planning Commission. All ordinance or ordinance amendments affecting zoning or subdivisions must be reviewed by the Planning Commission.

Public Safety Committee:
The Public Safety Committee is an advisory committee to the Board of Supervisors on all matters generally pertaining to public safety. Topics of discussion and review include emergency management (civil defense), speed limits, traffic signals, and reduction of traffic accidents.

Senior Committee: Vacancy
The Senior Volunteer Committee works with Township Staff and the Board of Supervisors to help give a voice to the growing senior community in the Township.

Shade Tree Commission: Vacancy
The Shade Tree Commission provides guidance to the Board of Supervisors for the planting, maintenance, and protection of shade trees along public streets and upon public lands of the Township.

Zoning Hearing Board:
The Zoning Hearing Board is a three person judicial body appointed by the Board of Supervisors to assure fair and equitable application and administration of the Zoning Ordinance. The Zoning Hearing Board can hear various appeals and can grant relief from the literal enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance and Municipalities Planning Code.
