In 2004, the Montgomery Township Police Department became the 22nd law enforcement agency to receive accreditation from the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC). In 2007, the Department was re-certified and found to be in continued compliance with the Commission's accreditation standards.
Administrative Division
Administrative Services provides routine clerical functions common to most businesses and governmental agencies.

Citizens' Police Academy
Annually, the Department conducts a Citizens' Police Academy. The Academy is held one night a week for ten weeks. The program provides citizen "cadets" an informative insight to law enforcement and the criminal justice system. Announcement of upcoming sessions can be found in the "Breaking News" section of the Township's website, or you may contact a member of "The Recruiting Team" at telephone (215) 362-2300, or policerecruiting@montgomerytwp.org.
Communications
Communications provide the Police Department with radio, telephone, and computer communications with the public, other local law enforcement agencies, and various Emergency Service providers (Fire, Ambulance, Rescue, etc.).

Detective Division
Detectives provide investigative services to the Police Department. They provide members of the Patrol Division with technical assistance during various investigations.

Patrol Division
The Patrol Division consist of many diverse units, among these are the uniformed members of the Police Department that provide traditional police services to the community. Also included in this division are the Canine Unit, Highway Safety Unit, Bicycle Patrol Unit and the Community Policing Unit.

Staff Services provide the Police Department technical assistance with Communications, Information Systems, and technology support services.
